We were lucky to get tickets to this Episode II premiere showing in San Francisco, five days before the official opening day. The charity was the California Mentor Foundation, which is actually very appropriate given the Jedi mentoring theme in the film.
Before the show was a 'street fair' with music and free 'In 'N Out' burgers for audience members. There were lots of local celebs there (Lucas & family, the mayor, Hayden, Tracy Ullman, etc.) but all were so enveloped by the press that I couldn't get any good pictures. At about 3:30 we filed into the theater (assigned seating) and heard a speech from Lucas before the film ran.
Afterward everyone went to a fancy reception next door, where we were given noodles, sushi, roast beef, and chocolate bourbon bread pudding, among other things. We also got to pose with the costumed folk and were given goodie bags full of Episode II stuff to take home. All in all, a great time. A few pictures below to give you the idea:
