Where Tony & Rhonda's adventures and hijinks become public!

March 31, 2003

Lungs are perfect today.

We really, really must update this site for all the latest walkathon info... most of our pages are still about last year! In the meantime, if anyone out there is yearning to contribute, send an email and I'll give you the proper donation link or send you a form. :)

Now on my way to Best Buy to count copies of CSI on the shelves. They put out twelve on Friday and had sold two by lunchtime Saturday. Can't resist going and counting again...

*** The CSI game is in the stores! ***

Amazon.com sales rank: 3

Big walk today, and big climbing yesterday and the day before. Combine that with the excellent sales rank for CSI and today would be perfect, except that I suddenly have big asthma which has driven me to bed. Ugh! No fun for Tony, either, who must now be my slave until I can breathe properly again.

March 28, 2003

Tony was invited to the Entertainment Tonight Oscar Luncheon the other week (before the Oscars, of course) and, among other goodies, they handed out preview tickets to see The Core. Funny thing is, we already saw The Core about four months ago in a preview screening. We went again last night, which meant that we saw it twice before it even opened. Liked it both times.

We're doing much better with our training regime. We're climbing tonight and tomorrow, and have a major hike planned for the day after. Even better, we got our very first sponsor check back in the mail! WOOHOO!!!!

(The only dark cloud today is that I'm having a smidge of drama in my professional life, and it's making me crabby. Probably would be a bad idea to write the details here quite yet, though. Drat.)

Popped over to Vegas just long enough to attend the Monster Jam finals, walk about eighteen miles, acquire two grotesque blisters, have dinner with the CSI technical advisor (an expert from the Las Vegas crime lab), climb the 75-foot climbing tower and ring the bell on the top, and pop back home. Now exhausted. Tony can't pry me away from my laptop tablet and I can't pry him away from Metroid Prime so I imagine we're having cereal for dinner tonight.

Between Tony getting sick and me getting sick and Tony getting sick again and family parties and family dinners and me getting a migraine our new training regime has been, well, pitiful.

But that ends tonight. We have a serious date with the climbing gym. We're traveling this weekend but have some significant hiking planned anyway, and hopefully some new running shoes as well, and then more climbing on Monday. This time, no distractions, not even for germs. Anything that wants to infect us will just have to wait... at least fifteen weeks.

War. Like the rest of the world, glued to the television today. When? Everything is outwardly normal, but there's a sense of quiet, of breath being held.

What do you say do a dermatologist who believes that no one should ever go outdoors because "every time sunlight touches your skin, you could get cancer." ...?

Loony toon. Some people just go too far. Bye-bye.

March 16, 2003

Long, long drive to Lockeford for Tony's mom's bday party, then long, long drive home.

Now curled up and preparing pledge letters for the 2Day; we're starting much later this year than last, so we're kind of stressed about making our donation minimums. $1750 each! Also need to hurry up and get shoes (two pairs each), Cytomax, Promax bars, breast cancer stamps, paper clips, note paper... oh, hell. Better add about a pound of chocolate to that list.

March 12, 2003

Well, we need to start training for the walkathon and we don't want to slack off on climbing. Hence, our new schedule:

-- Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday: climbing, possibly weight & elliptical machines after if we're truly motivated (and need an excuse to eat chicken McNuggets.)
-- Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday: walking, short on weeknights and long on Sundays.

Not tonight, though. Tony has been sick all day, so I convinced him to come home early and ordered a chicken. Can't be superheroes all the time.

Everything else, on the other hand, is less inspiring. Blue Cross was willing to cover my root canal (well, half of it) but now refuses to pay for the crown until after May 17th. What is the sense of letting the dentist begin a procedure but not finish it? The temporary buildup is only supposed to last a month and I'll have mine for six -- yeech.

Time for sushi.

March 08, 2003

Well, now we've done it.

We signed up to do another breast cancer walk this summer!

Many, many details to come. In the meantime, click our 'walkathon' button for lots of info about last year's adventure.

The Game Developer's Conference has been going on for two days now. Tony is in countless meetings and I am pining at home; I don't get to go until tomorrow. I could have gone today, but would have been stuck there for ten hours while he went from appointment to appointment. I like the GDC but not that much; we'll go tomorrow, check out the Expo, catch up with some old friends, then drive home and go climbing.

We need to make an amendment to the FAQ for this site. Still getting many emails requesting old games or pirated versions of old games -- we don't do that. Also need to add a new item: people who send flames to either him or I can expect to be flamed in return. It's the only way to keep balance in the universe.

Code Release!

CSI is officially finished.

Amazon.com Sales Rank: 19

The countdown to the CSI code release is now counted in hours, not days! At least, we think so. There are still one or two little odds 'n ends -- of course -- that could potentially gum up the works, but we are counting on our triumphant Bond ending any moment now.

Plus, our tax returns were officially accepted this morning, and now we're expecting a huge refund. We're going to think of something wild to do with it, no doubt. We already have a few ideas brewing, but I ain't telling yet...

March 01, 2003

Climbed this morning. Between hurting the finger and testing CSI and getting sick we haven't been climbing as much as we'd like, and the routes are feeling a little more challenging than they were a month or so ago. But our technique keeps improving, and the muscles will catch back up.

(I can't close my jeans all the way, either. Darn.)
