Happy Thanksgiving!

Blogger still not updating. Still not my fault.

Tony is back in LA, doing another voice recording for the new CSI game. The amazing thing is that now that this is the second time through, he's utterly cool about it -- it's no longer such a big deal. At least not to him... I'm still starstruck every time he comes home with stories about this or that actor or producer and how it was to work with them.

Lack of updates not my fault this time. Blogger hasn't been working properly for days and days.

We were vegetables all weekend. We ordered a pile of take-out on Friday night and ate it for the next two days, while we played games (Tony likes the new Railroad Tycoon and I'm hooked on Dark Cloud 2), watched TV and made a few unambitious excursions to get more supplies. Now we only have three days to wait before the weekend starts over again, longer this time.

Yay!

Met with a new specialist yesterday. Things are looking up. Slow, but up.

I also managed to send the first batch of revisions back to my editor, who thanked me instantly and has now reverted, as predicted, to slow-motion publisher-time. When the next batch of comments arrives I'm sure I'll have to hop frantically all over them, but for today all is peaceful.

I'm gradually learning about Book Time. This is a form of reality in which the publisher operates in slow motion, with weeks between emails and months between checks, but the author must live in superfast time. They rarely ask me for anything that isn't URGENT and ALREADYLATE and WHENCANYOUSENDIT. So I'm doing my best to send back the first batch of revisions (canyousendthemthisweek? Onwhatday?) very soon, after which we will almost certainly return to slow-motion publisher-time.

Gotta keep a sense of humor.

Tony is in LA, starting the CSI voice recordings. It was exciting the first time he got to do this, and it still is. (I was actually hoping I could find an excuse to tag along this time, actually, but no such luck.) He's stressed out, of course, dealing with the scripts and the contracts and the last-minute scheduling changes, but really, that's kind of all part of the fun.

No, I'm not better yet.

Life is a little different these days. Quieter. We're watching a lot of movies, ordering in light meals and eating them in bed. Not feeling very athletic or adventurous. The fall rains have started and for once I don't mind -- we feel like nesting anyway, and wind and rain outside the window give a great excuse for that. We went out to dinner last night to celebrate my Mom's birthday, and had a nice time catching up with my family, but it was also good to get back under the covers afterward.

The heater is working! The heater is working!

The cure was to kick-start the thing by setting it to like 90 degrees for a few hours. So now it is the Gobi Desert in here but at least we're not freezing anymore.
