Where Tony & Rhonda's adventures and hijinks become public!

October 20, 2004

OK, the 2004 Walkathon site is now up! Click on the logo to the left, or navagate the Adventures page to go to the Info and Hall of Heroes pages.

Rhon took a lot of great pics during those 3 days, but those are a tad harder to get up quicky, but we are on it, and hope to have them up soon!

We've been silent for a few days, cause we were wiped out from finishing the 3 Day walk last Sunday. This was the hardest one on us yet! But, depsite Rhonda's pre-walk toe injury and numerous other problems during the walk, once again, we made it all 60 miles!

So, now we are kicking back, relaxing. Stayed in bed almost all day yesterday, with a 1 hour trip to the hot tub (did wonders for our muscles!) Then today, again, very low key - DVD's, computer games and Team America (did not get high marks from us.)

I've been very lax actually creating a web area for the 3 Day this year. I plan to do that be end of next weekend (I have to install new software and all that) but it's the least I can do to share as much of our very cool 3 day experieces with all of you!

Good morning. It's 4:20 am and we're about to catch a cab to Opening Ceremonies.

Weather forecast: Severe Weather Alert.

Fog and rain.

Should be exciting.

October 14, 2004

Today is Day 0 of the walk! That means we'll head over to orientation, watch the safety video, get our tent assignments, etc. etc. etc.

Then Opening Ceremonies, tomorrow morning at 6.

Then we walk. 60 miles by Sunday.

See you on the other side!

Woohoo -- I'm number 33!

(Bath Gourmet is currently the #33 bestseller in its category on Amazon. Not bad. Even cheers me up from the fact that my stupid awful stupid toe started stupid bleeding again in the middle of stupid REI this morning.)

So yesterday I tripped on the metal doorframe going into the shower. And sliced open the top of my toe. And ripped through the nail bed. And bled everywhere. And immediately got such bad inflammation that it compressed the nerves in my foot and I howled for a half hour before Tony carted me to the doctor's office.

Why why why why why? Why right before the 3-Day?

So now I'm on heavy-duty antiinflammatories and painkillers and forbidden to do any unnecessary walking until Tuesday at least. Feels horrible. The good news is that the doctor predicts that -- with the help of the drugs -- I should be, might be, my old self again by Friday... the first day of the 3-Day. Minus one toenail, but my old self. We hope.

Less than two weeks till the 3-Day!

We're making lists. Stuff we need, stuff to do, stuff to pack. Backup shoes, insoles, glo sticks, gu, garbage bags, ziplock mini bags, camera, rain hats, rain pants, tarp, signs, cellphone battery, first aid stuff, handiwipes, travel alarm, and so on and so forth and so on.
