Where Tony & Rhonda's adventures and hijinks become public!

April 29, 2005

Poor Tony flew 8 hours to Montreal yesterday, is going to a meeting this morning, and then must fly 8 hours home this afternoon. YIKES. He says it doesn't bother him, but I think all the airtime might be making him wonky.

(Remember, he had to do nearly the same thing last week... except it was all the way to Paris and London, not just Montreal.)

Meanwhile, I'm sitting here with my mouth agape, watching the bath book sell at Amazon. My Amazon rating has suddenly gotten a lot better. A few days ago they were down to five books left, then two, then a new shipment came in, and now this morning they're down to four books again. Woohoo! Just think: Bath Gourmet really would be a great Mother's Day present... hint, hint. (Plus, if you mail me a book I'll sign it for your Mom.)

My hair is gone.

Not all of it. Just enough of it that I wince when I look in the mirror. I asked for a few inches off, then immediately hated how it looked. My stylist suggested allowing her to cut it some more and style it a little. I figured it couldn't get any worse so I told her to go ahead.

Mental note: when your hair is too short, the solution is not to cut it even shorter.

So, at least now I know who I am. I am a Long Hair Person. Not because of laziness or inertia or lack of imagination. I have tried the Big Cut, and I don't like it. Yuck. Growing back is going to take a while. But at least I know it's going in the right direction.

Which is worse: a regular email folder brimming with spam, or a spam folder brimming with regular mail?

I had the second. My spam filter freaked out. Again. Anyway, if you've written lately and not gotten an answer, chances are that your note was flushed along with all the Mexican prescription drug, sexual enhancement and Nigerian 'give-me-your-bank-account-number' mails in the past week or so. Sorry!

(Tony is home from London, by the way. We had a great weekend, though this week started quite badly with a $1200 dentist appointment, a $600 bite guard, the previously-menioned berserk spam filter, and an overflowing To-Do list for Tony. The good news: the next book is looking FANTASTIC, if I may say so myself. I'm really excited about this one.)

HAPPY GOS DAY!

Yes, it's here already -- the day the very first goslings appear down the street. These were too bitty and gray to get a proper count, but it looked like at least nine or ten. If this turns out anything like last year, that means we only have eighty or ninety or a hundred to go.

Gos day marks our personal start of spring, the start of our training season, time to take the top off the Jeep and visit the hotdog drivethrough on Sunday mornings. We always have a private celebration for Gos Day.

But this year we're a bit delayed. Tony isn't due home from London for a few more hours. (Yep, he's been working overseas all week. Mr. Busy Bee. You can't imagine how humongous our phone bill will be this month.)

We've done the 3-Day three times now... that's 15K raised and 180 miles walked. Are we doing it again this year? Hmm. Maybe. We're contemplating shaking things up by trying Team in Training (yes, it's still a charity) instead. Maybe a...

...triathlon...

...though we aren't exactly great swimmers. Or bikers. or runners. Yet. But we'd sure like to learn, and that's exactly what Team in Training does. We raise money for leukemia and they train us for the event of our choice. Can you imagine? Tony and Rhonda: Triathletes!

Confession #1: we've been away on vacation. I never say so beforehand in case some noodlebrain (see previous post) reads that we'll be gone and decides to visit our house. But now that we're home it's safe to say that we visited Honduras/Belize/Cozumel and had a fantastic time. We went zip-lining for the first time and it was the Best Thing Ever.

Confession #2: we've actually been back for a while now. I just haven't felt like posting, partly because I'm lazy and partly because of formerly-mentioned noodlebrain.

Is anyone else out there? Send me a note and cheer me up.
